I went to Burma in 2011, and got food poisoning and passed out (accidentally knocking over a little local man, and pinning him to the floor). My friend revived me with copious amounts of Sprite, and thankfully I didn't have to enter the Burmese healthcare system. Maybe a good topic for a Substack post someday...thanks for showing me what I avoided.
Thanks for your comment, Donal. Must have been amazing to be there in 2011 - I was in mainland South East Asia myself around that time, and haven't been back since. I wonder how it's changed in the last 15 years. Do you remember what you ate that knocked you around so bad?
